Come walking in France in 2012

in Spring - and in Autumn too!

Next year, we’re expanding the range of our French holidays and will be adding 2 new and very different options. We will also be going twice – May/June, to make sure we're there for the wonderful spring mountain flowers and September/October, for the best of early autumn in this most gorgeous of countries.

On each occasion we've timed it to give you the option of enjoying two successive tours in very different parts of the country. We’ll transport you from one destination to the other if you decide to do the two and pay hotel costs (demi-pension) en route from one to the other.

France: Walking in the western Pyrenees

For the umpteenth time I’ll happily be making my annual reconnection with the gorgeous walks and fascinating Basque culture in a most beautiful corner (extreme South West) of la belle France. We stay at my old house (the tyranny of distance required that I sell my half share in 2002). A delightful house, gorgeous walks and terrific food tell why this one keeps on selling out...... our next tour to the Pyrenees

France: RL Stevenson Cévennes

This fabulous ‘new’ venture is the walk based on a book the lovelorn young Stevenson wrote in 1879, called Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennes and has been designated by the French as one of their Grande Randonnées or 'long distance walks' (GR70). It will be a 14 day walking tour leaving from the historic old town of Le Puy en Velay and heading south through stunning and very varied countryside to St Jean du Gard, quite close to Montpellier and Avignon. We stay in hotels and pensions and luggage will be transported in our support bus. Participants always have the option of jumping in the support bus if it all gets too much.... our next tour to RL Stevenson Cévennes

France: Walking in Dordogne and Lot

Even in a country with so much variety regional beauty as France, the Dordogne and Lot areas stand out. We'll stay in a delightful holiday house near the junction of the Dordogne and Vézère rivers, setting off each day to explore this delightful region. We visit the the lovely market town of Sarlat, the pilgrimage site at Rocamadour, walk in the limestone areas of the Lot and much more..... our next tour to Dordogne and Lot
